Case Study – The Golf Classic
The Golf Classic is the largest and most prestigious annual golfing event on the construction industry calendar. It is managed and administered totally by Mainspring. Each year 1000s of golfers participate. This nationwide competition progresses through six rounds; each round played at one of the team’s golf courses. To be eligible all players must be employed within the construction industry and possess a club handicap. After six rounds the teams are reduced to around twenty winning pairs. These winners, plus Golf Classic sponsors, then attend the ultimate finals, which this year will be held at Celtic Manor - less than a year prior to its hosting the Ryder Cup. Previous finals have been played at The Belfry and Gleneagles. Mainspring Marketing seamlessly manages the event from February through to the end of October, including the finals with overnight stay and gala dinner. Sponsors include major suppliers to the construction industry plus key industry trade press. A sponsors’ golfing event also takes place at the finals venue alongside the main competition. While the organisation and co-ordination is significant and on-going, Mainspring is adept at bringing together disciplines, such as event management, PR and advertising to ensure that the Golf Classic retains it’s status and popularity. | ||||||
